Abstract
Introduction: Hepatitis B (HBV) and Hepatitis C (HCV) infections pose significant clinical challenges in hematological patients due to their immunocompromised status, particularly those undergoing chemotherapy or stem cell transplantation. Chronic viral hepatitis can exacerbate liver dysfunction, increase treatment-related toxicity, and affect overall survival outcomes in these patients.
Material and methods: By understanding the intersection of hepatitis and hematological disorders, healthcare providers can enhance therapeutic outcomes and minimize complications for this vulnerable patient population. We reviewed the present knowledge and the impact of hepatitis B and hepatitis C in patients with hematological malignancies and discuss how chronic viral hepatitis impacts the management of these malignancies.
